Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Tuesday he'll assist Kevin Stefanski in his new offensive coordinator role. "I will try to help him the best I can and so will everybody else, and hopefully the players will too," Zimmer said.

Are the Vikings Over-reacting?

Tony Reali and the national panel debate if the Vikings should have fired OC DeFilippo one day after the loss to Seattle, if Wagner's controversial FG block was illegal, if Giannis avoiding off-season workouts with the NBA elite is smart and much more.

Minnesota Vikings coach Vikings coach Mike Zimmer has now had two offensive coordinators depart during the season in the past three years. Norv Turner quit in 2016 and now John DeFilippo has been fired. Both men had their faults. But it's important to consider the full context of today's news. Working for Mike Zimmer isn't easy.

Mike Zimmer on how to fix the Vikings offense: "Yeah, that's a good question. Keep at it. Keep trying to find things that we're good at. We didn't score very many points tonight, didn't score very many points last week. Part of it is being better on third downs, we haven't really done a good job there. Part of it is being better in the red zone. Had the ball on the 2-yard line didn't score. You keep doing things like that you're not going to score many points."

Kirk Cousins was pressured on 3 of his 9 dropbacks in the first half but was constantly under duress of phantom pressure. He's averaging 2.69 seconds to throw this season, but had more time in the first half -- an average of 3.70 seconds from snap to release on his passes per NFL Next Gen Stats -- but went 4-of-8 for 27 yards. Cousins seeing ghosts isn't surprising given the struggles of his offensive line, but it has become a regular domino effect for the offense's inability to execute.
