Manning inducted into Colorado Sports HOF

Peyton Manning said he's enjoying retirement and was in Denver on Wednesday night at his Colorado Sports Hall of Fame induction, which came on the 20th anniversary of his selection as the No. 1 pick in the 1998 NFL draft.

As ESPN's Field Yates has reported this morning the Broncos have added $3 million in potential incentives to cornerback Chris Harris Jr.'s contract. The incentives are linked to playing time, team wins, possible All Pro selection and interceptions. His base salary, now $7.5 million for the season, could increase to $10.5 million if Harris hits all of the incentives. He should have a good chance given he's played 16 games in six of his seven seasons -- he played 15 in the other -- and was a first-team All Pro in 2016.

On the first day of their offseason program the Broncos have also announced they signed five of their exclusive rights free agents -- players with two or fewer accrued seasons who cannot negotiate with another team until the team waives them. Defensive end Shelby Harris, wide receiver Jordan Taylor and linebacker Zaire Anderson were among the five. Linebacker Joseph Jones and tackle Elijah Wilkinson were the other two.

When Broncos coach Vance Joseph fired running backs coach/assistant head coach Eric Studesville after the season C.J. Anderson also likely lost his most ardent supporter in the building. Anderson also had made no secret he didn't believe Studesville's firing was a good move. Studesville is now run game coordinator with the Miami Dolphins where former Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase is the head coach. The Dolphins did sign Frank Gore earlier this offseason.

The Broncos open their offseason program today -- it's conditioning work only in Phase 1. Coach Vance Joseph was asked at the league meetings last month what his message would be when the players returned to work and his answer was: "My message is going to be: obviously it's a new year. We want everybody to put last year behind us. Not forget last year because it happened but obviously have a clean slate, move forward and let's get better as a football team. We want to stress this spring having more accountability. That's where is starts with getting better. Everyone doing their job better. Myself, the coaches, the players -- everyone diving in and doing a better job than we did last year. That's a simple message."
