Facing teammates in ASG OK with LeBron

Cavaliers star LeBron James says he doesn't think the possibility of facing teammates in the All-Star Game would hurt locker room chemistry.

LeBron: 'There should be some kind of privacy' with Lonzo conversation (1:02)

Nick Friedell ESPN Staff Writer

LeBron James was asked Saturday about the possibility of winning another MVP award at this point in his career and acknowledged that he is playing for something more than just his own legacy at this point. "Team success is always the number one, but along the way if you're able accomplish some individual awards, individual achievements, it would mean a lot," James said after Saturday's practice. "I feel good. This is my 15th year, but this is one of the best years I've had as far as how I feel and I want to continue that. I want to kind of try to break the mold for the next generation. So just take the narrative out of 'OK, you're past your prime when you get [to] 31, or you're past your prime in your 12th year in the league, or whatever the case may be.' Hopefully I can break the mold so when the next guy comes, he can still get 200 or 300 million and be 33 years old. I'm serious. You guys are laughing, I'm serious. This is the mold I'm trying to break. It's not just about me, it's for the next crew as well ... I'll be 33 in 15 days. This is my 15th season, and this is the best I've felt in my career. I want it all!"

LeBron mum on his postgame chat with Lonzo

LeBron James and Lonzo Ball both declined to reveal what was said during their brief chat after the Cavs' 121-112 win over the Lakers, though Ball was quick to praise James as "the best player in the world right now" after their much-anticipated meeting.

Tristan Thompson, who left the arena on Thursday wearing a white sweatshirt with Supreme's red logo across the chest, was not surprisingly a fan of JR Smith's Supreme arm sleeve he wore against the Lakers. "It was lit," Thompson told ESPN. Smith did not share his fashion choice with his teammates pregame, whipping off his sweatshirt right before taking the court to reveal the accessory. "He surprised us, that made it even better," Thompson. "If he's going to wear it, he might as well make a scene." He also thought that Smith's execution was better than Washington Wizards forward Kelly Oubre's Supreme leg sleeve that Oubre recently wore. "I wouldn't do it, but shoot, if they want to wear it and start something, start a trend, why not be the first two to do it? But it's way bigger doing it on TNT than doing it on a local broadcast. So, I'm rolling with my guy Swish." Thompson then shared what he likes about the Supreme brand, which sold a 50 percent stake in its company to the Carlyle Group for a reported $500 million in October. "It's a street-wear brand, very exclusive," Thompson said. "It's always been very popular but now it's just getting where more and more people know what it's about."

LeBron James spoke glowingly of Larry Bird after tying him for No. 6 on the all-time triple-doubles list with the 59th of his career on Thursday. "He's one of the greatest players to ever play the game," James said. "Kid from French Lick. Boston. And one of the few guys that ever be in a 3-point contest and shoot with a warm-up shirt on. And, but just his like, he played until he couldn't play no more. Obviously, we know that. He just played until he literally couldn't play the game no more. He gave everything he had. And for young guys that don't know him, they think of Larry Bird as a jump shooter. But he was so much more than that. He was a passer. He averaged double digit rebounds. He defended. He took charges. And it's just straight up complete basketball player and me as a small forward, Scottie (Pippen), Bird, Doc (Julius Irving), George Gervin, the guys I kind of looked up to being a small forward. And they kind of set the precedent of what it is to go out there as a professional and give it all. So, I've always been a fan of Larry Bird and if I linked with any of the greats, especially like him, it's pretty cool."

LeBron James said he was "humbled" by the fact that Lonzo Ball has said over and over again that James was his favorite player growing up and that he admired James' demeanor. He added that's one reason why he tweeted happy birthday to the rookie.

LeBron James said he can relate to the immense pressure and hype surrounding Lonzo Ball and he likes how Ball is about all about team first. James also took notice of how the young Lakers push the ball.

LeBron James took a long moment to talk to Lonzo Ball on the court after the Cavs win, talking to the rookie while covering his mouth and hiding his words with his jersey. Ball wouldn't reveal what James said to him but it had to be a very inspiring moment for Ball, who grew up with posters of James on his wall and trying to mimic his game and demeanor on court.
