Walt Frazier puts things in perspective for the Knicks during an interview Wednesday on SiriusXM NBA Radio, discussing the importance of Kristaps Porzingis' health: "The reality is without KP, man, we're going nowhere. Without Porzingis, he's our future. The worst thing that could have happened to the Knicks did happen. This guy blew his knee out mid season. Supposedly he's coming back in January, but who knows. If the Knicks don't get him back to his former grandeur things are looking pretty bleak for them." Porzingis is currently rehabbing from ACL surgery. He's expected to remain sidelined until at least December.

Down goes Frazier: Clyde gives 'asterisk' to KD

Clyde Frazier, when asked where he'd rank Kevin Durant on a list of all-time players, said he would dock the two-time Finals MVP for joining "a team that really didn't need him."

Ian Begley ESPN Staff Writer

Clyde Frazier said on Sirius XM NBA Radio Wednesday that he'd give Kevin Durant an asterisk on a list of all-time great players because of his success with the Warriors. CLYDE: "Durant, I mean, as great a player as he is, I would still hold back because man he joined a team that really didn't need him. You know what I mean? He's right there with LeBron, probably will surpass LeBron as the best player in the game soon. But for him doing that, I still don't give him the full credit that he probably would have deserved if he stayed with OKC and won a title with that team." Frazier was asked if Durant's success with Golden State would affect where he lands on a list of all-time greats. CLYDE: "He's going to be down the list for me because of that. There will be an asterisk by his name (chuckles)."

David Fizdale said in an interview with NBC New York that there is already reason for fans to be optimistic about a potential Knicks turnaround due to president Steve Mills and GM Scott Perry's "awesome of plan bringing in guys that maybe didn't work out in the place where they were at before. But they're a high draft pick and under some good player development and some culture, maybe that kid could turn into something close to what he was expected to be." The Knicks have nine former lottery picks on the roster this season. Fizdale also referenced the idea of Kristaps Porzingis returning to the lineup from his ACL injury. "I really feel like we're all in sync and moving in the right direction with this thing and doing it the right way," he said.

In an interview with NBC New York, David Fizdale was asked about what he learned during his tenure in Memphis, which ended early last season with his firing: "I went in there just force-feeding culture down everyone's throat," Fizdale told NBC's Bruce Beck. "Like I said in the press conference (in May), I had a small window, I felt, with those guys. So I really tried to fast track everythhig. And there's just some things you can't rush. You can't rush relationships, you can't rush trust, you can't rush the culture. And I tried to do that. And that was my bad. So hopefully I learned that lesson coming here and I really take the time and the steeps that's necessary to build a culture that can last." Fizdale, Knicks president Steve Mills and GM Scott Perry are trying to build a strong culture in New York. They're hoping to succeed where many other execs and coaches have failed in the last two decades. That will be one of many elements to keep an eye on this season in New York.
