BIGGEST LOSER (29Dec2917): Southern Cal continued its erratic season with a league-opening home loss to Washington. Without Anthony Melton and with five losses overall, the Trojans seem more likely to miss the NCAA tournament than meet their lofty preseason expectations. Washington, meanwhile, picked up another huge road victory despite being undervalued by the likes of yours truly.

Dickerson leads Washington past Southern California

Noah Dickerson scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Washington to its first Pac-12 Conference road win in almost two years, a 88-81 victory over Southern California in a conference opener for both teams on Friday night.

Huskies to retire Thomas' jersey in February

The Washington Huskies will retire Isaiah Thomas' No. 2 jersey on Feb. 15 when the Huskies host Utah. Thomas will join Brandon Roy and Bob Houbregs as the only players to have their numbers retired by the school.

Gonzaga bounced back from Tuesday's loss to Villanova with a dominant performance at Washington Sunday, beating the Huskies -- who were coming off a win over No. 2 Kansas in Kansas City -- 97-70 in the first trip back to Seattle's Hec Edmundson Pavilion for the in-state rival Zags since 2005. Gonzaga has won all three meetings since the teams resumed their series in 2015 in lopsided fashion.
